Executive Summary
A Romanian anti-doping analysis laboratory has gained accreditation from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The new Bucharest facility, which brings the global network to 35 laboratories, will play an important role in meeting an unmet demand in the region, according to WADA president John Fahey. In addition, a laboratory in Almaty, Kazakhstan, is said to be in the final stage of WADA's accreditation process. A further three laboratories – in Buenos Aires (Argentina); Doha (Qatar) and Mexico City – are also due to begin accreditation later this year or in 2010.
