Scotland's main hospital in the Western Isles (Stornoway, Isle of Lewis) has been equipped, for the first time, with a CT scanner. Unveiling it today, together with a refurbished A&E department, Scottish health secretary Nicola Sturgeon described the unit as "state-of-the-art". Until now, the island's population had to travel to the mainland to receive a CT scan.
