Stryker MedSurg reorganises leadership after two resignations

Executive Summary

Stryker (Kalamazoo, Michigan) has announced leadership changes across some of its MedSurg divisions (powered surgical instruments, beds and stretchers) following the retirements of Si Johnson (group president) and Dean Bergy (vice-president and CFO). Curt Hartman is promoted to the newly-created position of vice-president for finance, effective December 1 2008 and will become CFO after Mr Bergy’s departure in March 2009. Mr Hartman is currently global president of the instruments division. Lonny Carpenter is promoted to group president, Stryker instruments and medical; he is currently president of Stryker Medical. Tim Scannel, currently president of Stryker Spine, is promoted to group president of Stryker Spine and Endoscopy. And Andrew Fox is promoted to group president for international operations. Latin America and Canada will be incorporated into the international businesses division, oversight of which will be in addition to Mr Fox’s current responsibilities for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Japan and the Pacific. Mr Johnson will continue as an advisor to the company’s president and CEO, Stephen MacMillan, through 2009. Mr Bergy will remain as CFO through the first quarter of 2009 and will thereafter serve as an advisor to the new CFO and Mr MacMillan throughout the transition period.
