Asian Harmonization Working Party names new executive team

Executive Summary
Wang Baoting has been named chairperson of the Asian Harmonization Working Party (AHWP). Mr Wang is the director general of the department of medical devices of China’s State Food and Drug Administration. He takes over from Mukundan Pillay for a three-year term. Milind Shah, managing director of Medtronic India, has been appointed as the AHWP’s co-chair. This signals that India will supply the next AHWP chair (the actual candidate is not yet known, but must be selected from among the country’s regulatory personnel). The AHWP’s new secretariat will consist of: Dr Jiang Feng and Dr Zu Xue Jun, of the China Association for the Medical Devices Industry; Jack Wong, of the BSI; and Bryan So, of the Hong Kong Productivity Council. Serving on the AHWP’s new technical committee are: Alfred Kwek (Health Sciences Authority, Singapore), as chair; and co-chairs Ali Al-Dalaan, of the Saudi Food & Drug Authority, and Daphne Yeh, of Philips Taiwan.
