Executive Summary
Swedish picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) supplier Sectra has announced the launch of the third phase of the deployment of its next-generation system. The PACS 12.1 features patent-pending RapidConnect technology that promises to provide better performance in large-stack reading, together with new integrated solutions, including 3D capabilities and "full web-based deployment". The 12.1 release was described by radiology IT vice-president Staffan Bergström as "future-proof". Northern Ireland's health service has become one of the first to install the new system and will use it to perform more than 1 million examinations per year, said the Linköping-based firm.
