New chief for Scotland's healthcare tech quality board

Executive Summary

Frances Elliott has been appointed chief executive of NHS Quality Improvement Scotland, the Scottish equivalent of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) in England and Wales. She will replace Dr David Steel, who had been chief executive of both NHS QIS, since is creation in 2003, and of its precursor, the Clinical Standards Board for Scotland, since its creation in 1999. He retired on March 31; Dr Elliott, currently medical director of NHS Fife, takes up her post on June 22. Ms Jan Warner will be interim chief executive until then.
