Executive Summary
Five medical devices feature on an updated list of healthcare products banned from entering Brazil. The list, which was published on August 26 by national healthcare regulatory agency Anvisa, lists a venous catheter manufactured by Balton (Warsaw, Poland) and imported/distributed by Bioline Commercial, of São Paulo. It also features a comprehensive ban on all products by HS Biosystem Productos Hospitalares (São Paulo), on the grounds of administrative-regulatory breaches. Both of these regulatory actions were instituted in late July. The remainder, which date back to January, include a “precautionary ban” on the import and use of Baxter Healthcare's Sepacell platelet leukoreduction filter, imported by Baxter Hospitalar.
