Executive Summary
Albania has launched a social and healthcare survey of its entire population, with a view to supporting healthcare and other reforms and investments. From this month, in collaboration with several international aid agencies, including the World Health Organization and development organisation USAID, the health ministry will oversee the data-collection phase of the survey. The results are scheduled for publication in September 2009. "Increased investments in healthcare are integral to continued progress on reforms...The survey [will help ensure] that appropriate policies and programmes can be designed and adequate resources allocated," said USAID mission director Roberta Mahoney.
