Argentina pledges to strengthen yellow fever and dengue testing services

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Argentina's central and provincial governments have agreed on the need to improve the early detection and laboratory confirmation of yellow fever and dengue. Pledges to strengthen these and other components of programmes covering these diseases were announced last week at a summit prompted by the confirmation of cases of yellow fever in monkeys, in Misiones province. Dengue, meanwhile, is a perpetual public health priority across much of Latin America; a number of countries are announcing similar initiatives and relaunching public awareness campaigns. Argentina has also announced similar plans to improve the detection and diagnosis of Chagas disease (see Clinica No 1325, p 16).
