In a significant move for medtech manufacturing across Latin America, the Mercosur trading bloc has approved measures to harmonise the inspection and certification of manufacturers of medical devices and in vitro diagnostics1. The bloc’s five member states – Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela – are to transpose a series of good-manufacturing practice (GMP) compliance procedures into national law by the end of April 2013.
