US medtech group issues guiding principles for device DTC ads

US medtech industry association AdvaMed has for the first time issued a set of voluntary guiding principles for the direct-to-consumer advertising of medical devices1,2. The 13 guiding principles, which are designed to ensure that DTC advertising for devices provides the most accurate and meaningful information for patients, “set a high bar” for the responsible use of DTC advertising by device companies, says AdvaMed.
