John Perrins, a consultant cardiologist with broad experience of cardiac devices and procedures, is to be the new chair of the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency advisory body, the Committee on the Safety of Devices1. When Dr Perrins takes up the post in April, he will succeed John Williams, who has been chair of the committee since it was set up in 20012.
