AHRQ announces ARRA grant funding

Executive Summary
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality announces Sept. 30 it has awarded $473 million in grants and contracts that support patient-centered outcomes research - formerly known as comparative effectiveness research - under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (1"The Gray Sheet" Aug. 10, 2009). Of the total, $300 million covers allocation of AHRQ funding, and $173 was administered by AHRQ on behalf of the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. The research addresses not only comparisons of different medical treatments, but also of different health care delivery systems and methods
