Executive Summary

State-based advocacy: Heather Erickson, president of MedTech in upstate New York, and Joseph Panetta, president and CEO of BIOCOM in Southern California, are the new co-chairs of the State Medical Technology Alliance, AdvaMed announced July 26. The alliance was formed in 2007 as a formal link between AdvaMed and state and regional medical device groups. Don Gerhardt, who heads Minnesota's LifeScience Alley, and Matt Gardner, former president of BayBio, previously co-chaired the alliance. Separately, on July 22, AdvaMed tapped Carrie Hartgen as its VP of state government relations and regional affairs. Hartgen comes from the consulting firm National Strategies, where she managed state government advocacy initiatives
