Pulse oximetry device maker Masimo will enter the brain function monitoring market for the first time through its purchase of privately held SEDLine for undisclosed terms, announced July 13. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., the latter firm's flagship SEDLine four-channel electroencephalogram (EEG)-based brain function monitor measures the effects of anesthesia and sedation to facilitate patient management.
