Siemens to distribute imaging agent

Executive Summary
In response to a Feb. 26 CMS coverage-with-evidence-development decision on the use of positron emission tomography in certain bone metastases treatments, Siemens Medical plans to distribute 18-F-sodium fluoride (NaF-18) through a network of 47 PET radiopharmacies in the U.S., the firm said March 5. The imaging agent is an alternative to Tc-99m, also used in PET scans, which has recently been in short supply (1"The Gray Sheet" March 1, 2010)
