Executive Summary

U.S. District Court in Boston orders Medtronic Dec. 19 to stop selling its Vertex and Vertex Max multi-axial pedicle screws following an earlier jury finding that Medtronic's spinal screws infringed on Johnson & Johnson/DePuy patents. The district judge had already awarded DePuy $226 million in the case. Medtronic plans to appeal the verdict and injunction.
