Executive Summary
Bill reclassifying all contact lenses as medical devices is one step away from becoming a law, following the Oct. 26 passage by the House. In March, the bill was successfully ushered through the Senate by Senators Michael Enzi (R-Wyo.), Mike DeWine (R-Ohio) and Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) (1"The Gray Sheet" March 14, 2005, p. 16). Supporters of the bill say it will reduce improper use of decorative contact lenses, which can cause corneal ulcers and other ophthalmic problems. The President is expected to sign the bill soon...
