Executive Summary
ICD Registry Working Group will hold meetings through Nov. 30 to generate recommendations for CMS on designing and implementing a national registry of implantable cardioverter defibrillators. The registry will be created as a condition of CMS' proposed ICD coverage decision, issued Sept. 28. Under the decision, participation in a national ICD registry is required for reimbursement. Representatives from the Heart Rhythm Society will lead the group, which also includes reps from St. Jude Medical, Guidant, Medtronic, the American College of Cardiology, the Heart Failure Society of America, Duke Clinical Research Institute, University of Pittsburgh and Indiana University...
