Executive Summary
Veridex unit will launch CellSearch metastatic breast cancer diagnostic system in the fall of 2004. During the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in New Orleans June 5, Johnson & Johnson explained that the CellSearch test - which identifies and counts circulating tumor cells in whole blood samples to predict progression-free and overall survival in metastatic breast cancer patients - should help physicians determine cancer treatment effectiveness much earlier than current methods, which can take up to three months.
