Smith & Nephew's endocsopy division will sell and service Computer Motion's Hermes voice recognition and control system for use with certain S&N endoscopy products under the most recent in a series of seven similar Computer Motion strategic partnerships, announced Jan. 28. The FDA-cleared Hermes, with over 700 placements to date, allows surgeons to control networked systems via speech recognition such as visualization systems, digital recording equipment, VCRs, printers, insufflators, operating room tables, OR lights, arthroscopy instruments and energy sources.
