More than 90% of patients referred for mitral valve regurgitation underwent repair instead of valve replacement, and 95-99% experienced success, results of a recent study conducted at the Mayo Clinic show. The firm says more than 50,000 surgeries are performed annually worldwide to treat mitral valve insufficiency
