Executive Summary
Panel will operate with a more specific focus on health issues, as jurisdiction for safety issues has been transferred to the newly renamed Employment, Safety and Training Subcommittee (previously known as Employment and Training). The primary effect of the change is that Occupational Safety and Health Administration programs are removed from the Public Health Subcommittee, which retains jurisdiction over programs operated by the HHS Public Health Service. Sen. Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) will continue to chair the public health panel, which now includes Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) and committee newcomers Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.)
