Executive Summary
Rolls out in Europe and Canada silicone and polyurethane models of its CapSure SP Novus bradycardia pacemaker leads for atrial and ventricular pacing, the firm reports in a May 21 release. The latest addition to the CapSure SP family of lead products, the Novus series offers a "smaller diameter lead body because of new proprietary silicone insulation." The polyurethane models provide "the handling and size advantages preferred by many physicians while their inner silicone insulation provides flexibility," Medtronic explains. The firm also introduces in Europe, Canada and Australia the Analyzer external testing device for pacing lead assessment during pacemaker or defibrillator implantation or lead system "troubleshooting." The system is incorporated into the Medtronic desk programmer, Model 9790, and replaces the firm's model 5311 (B) lead assessment device
