Executive Summary
Insertable loop recorder is useful for long-term monitoring and diagnosis of patients with unexplained, recurrent and infrequent syncope, suggests a study by Andrew Krahn, MD, University of Western Ontario, et al., presented March 31 at ACC. The 85-patient study found that during a mean 2.9 months (1 0.9 months) of follow-up, 82 episodes of syncope, pre-syncope or dizziness occurred in 45 (53%) of patients. The Reveal-recorded episodes assisted diagnosis of the syncope as bradycardia, tachycardia, multiple arrhythmias, and sinus rhythm.
