U.S. Surgical's One-Shot: Circular clip applying device intended to simplify and accelerate anastomosis is cleared for marketing by FDA and slated for a first quarter 1998 launch, USSC says. The one-shot will simplify minimally invasive and traditional coronary artery bypass graft surgery, the company claims, by allowing completion of anastomosis in under two minutes "with one squeeze of the handle" of the instrument. Use of the system would spare the surgeon "20-25 minutes of hand sewing," USSC adds.
