Selfcare: Initial public offering of 1.3 mil. shares priced at $8.50 per share nets the firm $10.3 mil. An overallotment option of 195,000 shares is still outstanding. The Waltham, Massachusetts-based maker of "self-test" diagnostics for diabetes, women's health and infectious diseases plans to use the proceeds for R&D, working capital and "other general corporate purposes, including the possible repayment of certain indebtedness and possible acquisitions," the firm states. In a registration statement for the offering, filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in May, Selfcare projected an offering of 2.7 mil. shares for $12 each ("The Gray Sheet" June 17, p. 26).
