BIOMATERIALS RESEARCH CENTER AT UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON is being established under a five-year, $12 mil. grant from the National Science Foundation. The center's mission is to "study `biological recognition' mechanisms to develop a new generation of biomaterials for medical implants that will heal in the body easily and normally," a May 23 NSF release explains.
