TRANSICOIL, TEXAS HEART GET $5.8 MIL. NHLBI GRANT FOR JARVIK 2000 left ventricular device system. Valley Forge, Pennsylvania-based Transicoil and the Texas Heart Institute of Houston are working together to develop the Jarvik 2000, a miniaturized rotary blood pump that would be implanted into the left ventricle. The valveless pump, which will be about the size of a "C" battery and weigh 90 grams, will be "capable of generating up to 12 liters per minute of blood flow," Transicoil said in a recent release.
