Executive Summary
"VIRTUAL" COLONOSCOPY INITIAL CLINICAL RESULTS show that the technique is "at least as good as" standard endoscopic imaging to detect polyps and colon cancer, David Vining, MD, Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, reported Nov. 29 at the 80th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America in Chicago. Vining et al. have used virtual reality technology to perform simulated colonoscopies on 12 patients to date, detecting three cancers with the technique.
