Executive Summary
William Schultz, previously legal counsel for the House Energy and Commerce/Health Subcommittee, is in line to fill the position following the departure of former deputy commissioner Michael Taylor to the Department of Agriculture ("The Gray Sheet" Aug. 1, In Brief). Schultz began serving as a consultant in FDA's Office of the Commissioner beginning the week of Nov. 21. Schultz joined the Energy and Commerce staff in January 1990 ("The Gray Sheet" Dec. 14, 1989, p. 17) and became Subcommittee Chairman Henry Waxman's (D-Calif.) chief aide on medical device and drug issues. Prior to his tenure on the Hill, Schultz was legal counsel for 14 years for Public Citizen's Health Research Group
