Executive Summary
SHILEY EXPANDING VALVE X-RAY IMAGING STUDY TO TWO NEW SITES to confirm promising results seen in a study at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. The Beaumont study is evaluating use of a modified Siemens Hicor computer-assisted x-ray system to identify Bjork-Shiley convexo-concave valves with single-leg separation, which is believed to be a precursor to valve failure. Shiley Heart Valve Research Center expanded the study in June to the Western Infirmary in Glasgow, Scotland and is close to concluding an agreement for a third study site at Stanford University Medical School in Stanford, California.
