Selected as prime medical/surgical distributor for the Detroit Medical Center, which is made up of seven hospitals with approximately 2,500 beds. The Richmond, Virginia-based distributor says the five-year contract has a value of "up to $225 mil," with purchases "in excess of $25 mil." in the first year. The firm also has negotiated a three-year agreement with Purchase Connection, a group purchasing program serving "more than 1,500 health-care providers" in the U.S. and Canada, O&M says. The deal, set to go into effect Aug. 1, is estimated to bring O&M $50 mil. annually.
