Executive Summary
Legislation reintroduced by Sen. William Cohen (R-Maine) seeks "elimination of unnecessary duplication and proliferation of expensive medical or high technology services or equipment" by awarding 10 grants to encourage hospitals to share large capital equipment such as lithotripters, magnetic resonance imaging devices and computerized axial tomography systems.
