In a safety communication issued on 30 November, the US Food and Drug Administration said it is evaluating data from Chinese-manufactured plastic syringes for potential device failure. The syringes in question inject fluids — or withdraws fluid — from the body. The FDA noted, however, that glass syringes, pre-filled syringes, or those used for oral or topical purposes are not under scrutiny at this time.
