FDA Face Mask Guidance Updated To Reflect End Of PHE

A revised guidance for face masks and barrier face coverings changes the language of the title and text to reflect the end of the PHE.

The US Food and Drug Administration’s updated guidance, “Enforcement Policy for Face Mask sand Barrier Face Coverings for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Response” now reflects the end of the Public Health Emergency (PHE).

The previous title updated in March 2023 included the phrase, “During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency,” which has now been changed to “COVID-19 Response.” The original version also included recommendations concerning face shields, surgical masks and respirators, which were split into a separate guidance document in March
