Germany Moves Ahead Of EU With National Patient Data Use Draft Law

More architecture for fast-developing national digital strategy

The German government has introduced a draft law on governance and access to patients’ healthcare data, ahead of the EU’s implementation of the European Health Data Space regulation.

The original plan was that the German health ministry (BMG) would wait for the EU’s European Health Data Space (EHDS) regulation to be in place before issuing national legislation governing the use and protection of patient data.
