Industry Supports Transparency On Proposed CMS Prior Authorization Rule

Industry trade groups applaud CMS’s proposal to increase transparency for prior authorization approvals but are asking for expedited timeframes to provide care.

The proposed Advancing Interoperability and Improving Prior Authorization Processes for Medicare Advantage Organizations, Medicaid Managed Care Plans, State Medicaid Agencies, etc. from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) drew hundreds of comments from the medtech and healthcare industry during its comment period, which closed last week.

Released on 13 December 2022, the proposal that covers everything from application programming interfaces to prior authorization would go into effect on 1 January 2026.
