Becton Dickinson Receives FDA Clearance For Vaginal Panel To Detect Vaginitis

BD said its newly FDA-cleared Vaginal Panel can detect three most common infectious causes of vaginitis with a single swab, reducing the need for repeat testing.

Becton Dickinson AB received 501(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for its BD Vaginal Panel that runs on the BD COR molecular diagnostic system, the company announced on 16 March.

The diagnostic test uses a single swab to test simultaneously for three organisms associated with vaginitis, which are bacterial vaginosis (BV), vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) and Trichomonas vaginalis (TV).
