Commission Adopts Proposal For EU MDR Changes, Sets Out New Transition Deadlines

The European Commission is now a step closer to implementing legislation that will see staggered delays for the application of the MDR in a bid to forestall medical devices shortages across the EU, with even longer extensions proposed than previously expected.

The European Commission has today officially proposed to extend transition deadlines for compliance with the Medical Device Regulation. It follows an announcement on 9 December that confirmed action would be taken to ease pressure on the EU medtech regulatory system.
