Swissdamed Devices Database Will Mirror Eudamed

Medical device database for Switzerland fully live in 2023

Outside the EU and no longer enjoying an MRA with the bloc, Switzerland has had to develop its own medical device database, work on which will continue into next year.

Among the many concerns of the Swiss medical devices industry, on witnessing the ending of the two-decades-old Swiss-EU mutual recognition agreement (MRA), was that local companies would no longer have access to Eudamed, the in-development EU medical devices database.

The Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products, Swissmedic, set about building its own database and this week reported progress towards that goal. It also confirmed that the new national database, “swissdamed”...
