Robots Hold Promise For Cancer Surgery, Chinese Study Shows

Patients with rectal cancer who had robotic surgery fared better than those with conventional surgery, according to a recent randomized trial out of China.

A cohort of patients with middle and low rectal cancer who had robotic surgery had better outcomes than the group receiving traditional laparoscopic surgery, a randomized trial in China showed.

The trial’s modified intention-to-treat analysis involved 1,171 patients between 18 and 80 years old with middle to low rectal adenocarcinoma with no evidence of distant metastasis,
