In a show of strong bipartisan support, the US Congress passed the Chips and Science Act that seeks to address the nation’s critical shortage of semiconductor computer chips by boosting domestic production. The legislation passed in the House 243 to 187 on 28 July a day after passing 64 to 33 in the Senate.
The bill now goes to President Joe Biden, who has given every indication he plans to sign it.
