China Aims To Be Robotics Industry’s Global Innovation Center

China has released a five-year plan for the development of the robotics industry. Health care applications are a key part of that plan, according to reports from Omdia.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released an ambitious five-year plan to develop and grow the local health care robotics industry. All industries are covered by the document, released on 28 December 2021, but medical robotics are being prioritized.

The government notes a major shortage of health care professionals, and wants more robotic support for surgeons to perform keyhole surgeries, undertake vital signs and other nursing tasks, improve rehab...
