Study Recommends Hydrogen Peroxide For N95 Decontamination

Respirators can be cleaned 2-3 times before efficacy loss, NIAID says

Research suggests N95 respirators used by medical staff can be safely decontaminated at least two to three times, with hydrogen peroxide vapor the most effective decontamination method.

Several techniques for decontaminating the N95 masks worn by health care professionals treating COVID-19 patients have garnered emergency use authorization (EUA) from the US Food and Drug Administration. But a recent preliminary study suggests vaporized hydrogen peroxide, or VHP, may offer the best combination of efficacy and speed.
