Diagnostics Makers Aim To Produce 25 Million COVID-19 Tests By End Of April

The head of the largest medical device lobby group told reporters the industry hopes to get 25 million diagnostic tests produced by the end of the month to fight the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the US.

As concerns continue that the US does not have enough diagnostic tests to fully grasp the spread and impact of the coronavirus crisis, the largest medical device lobby group says based on conversations with manufacturers they hope to ramp up production of live-virus total tests to 25 million by April 30.

During a call with reporters on 22 April, AdvaMed CEO Scott Whitaker said the industry is planning on substantially increasing the number of COVID-19 diagnostic tests available to health care...
