ResMed Buys MatrixCare For $750M To Add Skilled-Nursing And Senior-Living Software

ResMed, one of the dominant players in the sleep-disorder market, has signed a definitive deal to buy Minnesota-based MatrixCare to augment its expanding software-as-a-service business with MatrixCare's electronic health record platform for long-term care settings.

ResMed Inc. is continuing to invest aggressively in its "software-as-a-service" offerings with the addition of MatrixCare, a provider of long-term post-acute care software that currently serves more than 15,000 skilled-nursing, life-plan community, senior-living, and private-duty care facilities.

The acquisition, announced Nov. 5, will cost San Diego-based ResMed $750m financed primarily through its credit facility. The price is about 25 times MatrixCare's expected 2018 earnings of $30m, according...
