German Medtech Industry Takes Aim At EU-Wide HTA Bid

The EU Council is scheduled to debate the European Commission's EU-wide health technology assessment proposal today, but opposition to the concept within medtech circles has started to mount, notably in Germany.

The German medtech industry is adding its voice to German policymakers who have registered objections to the draft EU regulation on unifying heath technology assessment (HTA). The proposal was made by the European Commission on Jan. 31 and is due to begin its journey through the European Council on April 17.([A#MT122444])
