Researchers in the UK are to begin clinical trials of Protein Polymer Technologies' (PPT) urethral bulking agent for treating female stress urinary incontinence. Under the terms of an agreement established last year, PPT's UK partner Femcare will conduct the trials and commercialise the product in Europe and Australia. Femcare, of Nottingham, says it expects to be able to CE-mark the bulking agent before the end of the year and hopes to start a limited commercial launch of the product in Europe by the third quarter of 2002.
