Other skiers, noticing his friend’s uniform, would ask the instructor to direct them to the freshest powder. Jaffe’s friend would direct them one way, knowing the trail was a bit tired. Then Jaffe and he would head in the other direction toward the actual freshly fallen snow. Jaffe’s point: when it comes to venture investing, he’s keeping the fresh powder to himself.
